Be on the look out for... Plastic Containers

You may know chemical released by plastic water bottles can cause cancer (It is not the water that affects you but the chemical released from the bottle)
How to avoid: Check the bottom of the bottle there should be a triangle sign and there will be a number on it. If the number is higher than or equal to 5 --> then this bottle is safe to use. Numbers under 5 will release the chemical. For most bottled water, the number is 1. Remember to check and stop reusing those bottles.

Start checking these numbers people!

After reading this I look it up...There's actually an enormous amount of water bottled in no 5 plastic bottles. I bought several that had a 5 stamped on the bottom.

Wanna know more?...tons of info out there...google it!

Plastic 5 is not recicable but "does not" cause cancer, 1 is but causes cancer. I think I will stick with the glass stuff. By the way bottled water is a bad thing anyway, most of the time worst than tap water, at least in US. There is a nice episode in Boston legal where they debate bottled water, it is interesting. Actually the debate is about what is good for us and the planet and what is healthy, and the answer is....

oi oi, ioana, even here you remind of boston legal :D. interesting thing with these numbers, but still are you sure? because plastic #5 (or bigger) looks like very artificial crap that doesn't look very healthy and it's not accepted for recycling here (okc, us). also they want to ban any plastic with big number on it ... spooky anyway.

ps. what's healthier: a pepsi in a #5 plastic bootle or a pepsi in a #1 plastic bottle? :P

hey carmen, good point with the bottled water...just from curiosity, I looked at many of them, and I couldn't find any with a higher # than 1, maybe 2 the most, but it is nothing but tap water sold in pretty bottles to fool the consumers. I guess depends of where you live, some place have better tap water than others and you can have it for free from the convenience of your own home.
How is Andrei doing by the way? you guys take care and have a wonderful new year.
